STARSkate: Silver
In 2009 Skate Canada has introduced the Long Term Athelete Development Plan (L.T.A.D) plan and EGSC is pleased to to support this initiative by introducing a weekly off-ice program, along with special attention to power, stroking, endurance and flexiblility. Silver Skaters are encouraged to contribute to music ideas, can join as Program Assistants (11 yrs +) in a junior coaching role, participate in a variety of club and interclub competitions and be a vital part of special events. Skaters have the option of taking group lessons only as part of the Silver Program fee or they can contact a member of the EGSC coaching staff to arrange private lessons in addition to group lessons during the STARSkate Silver session. Please note that all lessons taught by a private coach are an additional charge to be handled directly between the parent and coach. Skaters may only try a Skate Canada test under the supervision of a privately contracted club coach. Silver September 12 - March 26
What Is Silver? Your skater has successfully completed the Canskate program and you are now entering the STARSkate program. The biggest difference and the hardest part for your skater to adjust to will be the amount of time that your skater will have for independent skating. At this level, you may want to consider working with a professional coach for semi-private or private lessons. Group lessons in dance, stroking, freeskate and skills are included in the program fee. Additional lessons (if desired) must be arranged and scheduled by contacting a member of the EGSC coaching staff. The remainder of your skaters time is to be used for independent practice time. Your skater will also begin testing. Skate Canada judges come to our club for scheduled test days. Your coach will know when your skater is ready for testing. You will be charged a fee, set by Skate Canada and a social fee set by the club to provide meals and traveling expenses for the judges. How do I pick a Coach?
Picking a professional coach can be a difficult choice. The first thing to consider is the attitude and personality of your child.
During the Canskate sessions, you have had an opportunity to watch several of our coaches working with your skater. If there is a coach that your child is familiar with, or one they like, that is usually a good place to start. All of the EGSC coaching staff are available to discuss your coaching needs and assist you in making the right decision for you and your skater. It is important that your and your skater are comfortable with your coach and can develop open communication, so we encourage you to contact a few coaches to help make the right decision. A list of club coaches, and email addresses are on the website or in the coaches room. All professional coaches charge fees; don't be afraid to ask how much they charge for lessons, test supervision, competitions and partnering.

Please check here While we do our best to accommodate skaters into the session of their choice, the EGSC Executive reserve the right to adjust programs or move skaters based on skill level and the number of skaters enrolled in each program as necessary.
